TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – National Nutrition Council Region II headed by Nutrition Program Coordinator Maria Gisela Lonzaga, together with Nutrition Officer II Frances Vea Valdez, participated in the Extension Program Grand Launching and Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony with Cagayan State University – Andrews Campus at Barangay Hall Annafunan East, Tuguegarao City on April 22, 2022.
CSU-Andrews in particular the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) has an approved Extension Program titled: “CARE SHELTER (Comprehensive Assessment and Rehabilitation Shots for Health and Livelihood Towards Economic Recovery)” which aims to provide appropriate quality care, and target a variety of issues affecting the health of a community.
NPC Lonzaga delivered a message of commitment of National Nutrition Council Region II to the extension program. She ensured that the agency shall provide assistance and give the utmost support to the program.
NNC RO II and CSU are expected to collaborate and build a partnership in the implementation of programs, projects and activities in order to reach the common goal – to eradicate malnutrition in Cagayan Valley, particularly in the beneficiary barangay.
The MOA bears the roles and responsibilities of both parties. NNC Region II shall perform the following duties:
- Assist CSU in the implementation of the extension projects in the adopted barangay
- Assist in resource mobilization and networking, jointly plan, monitor and implement by virtue of the MOA
- Extend other services necessary for the health and nutrition improvement and socio-economic growth and development of adopted Barangay in Tuguegarao City
The MOA will be effective for a period of five (5) years from the date of the signing of the said agreement.
Cagayan State University is a partner of NNC Region II in the academe network on the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement which aims to eliminate all forms of malnutrition. Both parties are expecting to have a stronger and more fruitful partnership in improving the health and nutrition of people in the community especially in Region II. ###FVV
