Tuguegarao City- The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) Region 02 held its Series 1 of 2023-2028 Regional Plan of Action on Nutrition (RPAN) Formulation Workshop of RNC Region 02 on October 12, 2022, at Las Palmas de San Jose Hotel, Tuguegarao City. The workshop was attended by RNC national government  member agencies and NGOs of the RNC Region 02. The program of the workshop included activities to formulate a comprehensive and holistic 2023- 2028 RPAN.

The workshop started with the presentation of the workshop over and mechanics by NO III Edzell Arcinue. A presentation  of the RPAN 2019-2022 was done by NPC Lonzaga to have a review of the previous plan.  The accomplishment of the  2019-2022 RPAN Outcomes and accomplishments  were also presented by DMO II, Mr. John Nestor Ballad and NO III Arcinue. The presentation included a presentation of the RNC Members and LGU accomplishments on Infant and Young Child Feeding.

RNPC Maria Gisela M. Lonzaga presented the  Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2023-2028 which highlighted nutrition for life stages and categorization of the nutrition sensitive interventions.

There were three group workshops conducted. Workshop 1 was on the identification of  facilitating and deterring factors of 2019 -2022 RPAN implementation facilitated by DMO II Ballad. Also done in workshop 1 was  the preparation of the  situational analysis. This included identification of the nutritional problem and its magnitude, the LGUs with the highest percentage of undernutrition and overnutrition. Workshop 2 was risk analysis facilitated by NO III Arcinue  and Workshop 3 was on the identification of outcome targets, goals, objectives of 2023-2028 RPAN facilitated by NPC Lonzaga.

Matrices for the RPAN 2023-2028 invest plan, investment plan by type of intervention and investment plan per out and sub outcome targets were also discussed.

The planning group is set to meet again on 26 October 2022 to hold the series 2 of the 2023-2028 RPAN Formulation Workshop. – Khayla Mae M. Urata/Edzell M. Arcinue
