Learning Hub for Enhanced and Revitalized Nutrition (LHEARN) Project is set to kick-off in Quirino Province after the advocacy meeting conducted by RNPC Maria Gisela Lonzaga with Dr. Mila Villar, PHO/PNAO and Quirino Provincial Nutrition Services Division led by Ms. Luningning Rhodes last 25 January. The meeting initially discussed the concepts and next steps of LHEARN project in the province.
RNPC Lonzaga initially shared that the LHEARN project is among the three (3) main components of the PPAN Peer Learning Approach. LHEARN is a capacity-building platform that facilitates the sharing and exchange of knowledge and experiences on nutrition program management between the LHEARN site and the learner LGU. She then assessed the capability of Quirino Province to be a LHEARN site using the LHEARN selection and validation tool, which the province easily complied the set criteria, being a Nutrition Honor Awardee, home of nutrition champions, and their exemplary nutrition program management.
The LHEARN Project aims to improve the nutrition performance of LGUs through a learning-sharing mechanism with high-performing LGUs on nutrition. The NNC will organize and capacitate Quirino Province to serve as learning hub on nutrition and will provide standardized mechanism for sharing good practices on nutrition and a platform for replication of such good practices. The project will be institutionalizing the benchmarking and technical exchange activities of LGUs in the region. – Edzell M. Arcinue
