Awit at sayawThe NNC Region III, once again staged the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF)’s  “Awit at Sayaw Para sa Nutrisyon” Contest.  This is a song and dance competition organized and funded by NNC through its Local Media Placement fund for 2014.  The three consecutive events were made possible in close coordination with the DepED Regional Director through the respective Schools Division Superintendents, PNAOs and DNPCs of the 3 identified provinces.

The contest was opened to a group of elementary pupils and high school students, with 5-10 members per category covering the provinces of Aurora, Bataan and Bulacan.  This is a sequel to the 2013 NGF’s “Awit, Sayaw at Bidyo” Competition which was held on October 2013 highlighting the singing and dancing prowess of the elementary, secondary and tertiary level pupils/students in different schools of Pampanga to the tune of the official NGF Nutri-Jingle of NNC Central Luzon.

The intended output of the event is the  expansion  and enhancement ofpublic awareness primarily targeting  the children and youth as well as  the school heads and teachers, parents and guardians, and LGU partners about the 10 Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos through a unique public information strategy, the song and dance. This is in support to the NNC’s nationwide campaign for the Promotion of Good Nutrition, with the banner slogan ”Wastong Nutrition, Alamin, Gawin at Palaganapin”. The three events being successful received good feedback from the Municipal Nutrition  Action Officers and they clamor for similar activity in their  respective municipalities.  They hoped to replicate the same during the nutrition month celebration of each LGUs.

Finally, the activity was made possible through NNC-RO3 collaboration with team masters, Mr. and Mrs. Ben and Alma Escasa of Big Ben’s Production, a subsidiary of ASLAG Kapampangan Performing Arts.  Once again, on its second year, the contest has evidently proven to be a good venue to display student’s talent, showcase their musical prowess and instill the value of proper nutrition in their young lives to influence a great majority of the population.
