The 2013 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony of Central Luzon was conducted last December 19, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Otel Pampanga, formerly Otel Apartelle, Lazatin Boulevard, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The regional nutrition awarding ceremony is an institutionalized activity of the Regional Nutrition Committee to recognize the importance of local actions in improving the nutrition situation in Central Luzon, and also to give tribute to Local Government Units, non government organizations and individuals who have done outstanding performance for the cause of nutrition in the region and to renew everyone’s commitment, moving together in spirit and in effort towards a common vision of nutrition adequacy for all as an important element for global competitiveness, people empowerment and human development.
The nutrition awarding also aims to boost greater participation of the populace and to have a greater impact on the improvement of the nutrition knowledge, attitudes and practices of families to increase demand for adequate and nutritious foods.
The regional nutrition awarding ceremony was attended by around 160 guests and delegates from all over the region. Present during the awarding ceremony were the Regional Nutrition Committee members of Central Luzon, headed by its Chair, Director Leonita P. Gorgolon, Regional Director of the Center for Health Development-Department of Health and Assistant Director Belen Garcia of Department of Science and Technology. Also present were the members of Regional Technical Working Group/Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET), headed by Ms. Joyce Ocampo and Ms. Margarita Natividad of the CHD-DOH, Ms. Lerma Ocampo and Ms. Ronda Lansang of Department of Agriculture, Dr. Maravia De Guzman of the Department of Education, Ms. Evelyn Galang of the National Economic and Development Authority, Ms. Joeylyn Baluyut of Philippine Information Agency and Ms. Pamela Pangilinan of the Commission on Population. Mr. Perry Pangan and Mr. Boy Santiago of DWRW 95.1 and ASLAG Kapampangan Performing Artist, headed by Ms. Deng Ascasa, our media partners were also present during the event.
Mayor Edwin Santiago of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga and representative of Mayor Isagani Castro, Ms. Christina Castro the MNC Co-chair and Administrative Officer of Paombong, Bulacan, Nutrition Action Officers, District/City Program Coordinators, Local Nutrition Committee, barangay officials and some Barangay Nutrition Scholars have witnessed/attended the awarding.
The doxology was led by Ms. Tiffany Perez, ASLAG Kapampangan artist followed by the singing of National Anthem.
Ms. Joeylyn Baluyut, PIA member of the RNET had expressively acknowledged the guests and delegates to the regional nutrition awarding ceremony.
Director Leonita P. Gorgolon, RNC Chair had warmly welcomed the guests and delegates to the event. She expressed her appreciation for the momentous gathering to celebrate the success and to pay tribute to the local government units, barangay nutrition committee and barangay nutrition scholars for their outstanding performance in the nutrition program for the year 2012.
Before the presentation of awards, an intermission number by “the dancing nutri-star mascot” was performed by an ASLAG artist which added color and delight to the event.
The presentation of certificates of recognition and cash awards from NNC Region III to the local government units, barangay nutrition scholars and was the main highlight of the event. The awardees together with their delegation had proudly received their awards as evidence of their success in implementation of nutrition program.
