Right after the Unified Flag Raising Ceremony cum Regional Nutrition Month Launching, some Central Luzon Association of Regional Officers (CLARO) members and staff representatives attended the traditional CLARO Breakfast Meeting being sponsored by National Nutrition Council Central Luzon every July each year.
Central Luzon Association of Regional Officers President and Department of Budget and Management Regional Director Eliza B. Salon presided the meeting. After the brief preliminaries and announcements, Nutrition Program Coordinator Victoria N. Mañez presented the Nutrition Month Talking Points which highlighted on this year’s theme “Gutom at Malnutrisyon , sama-sama nating wakasan”.
Lively discussions followed after the presentation. In particular, exclusive breastfeeding as a hunger mitigation strategy of our government were discussed. As an offshoot of the this event, Director Salon suggested to conduct a forum that will cater to women government employees of reproductive age because according to her, they should be the first to learn about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and the need to continue breastfeeding even if they are working. The need to put up lactation stations in the workplace was also discussed.
Immediately, RNC Chairperson and CHD Region 3 Director Leonita P. Gorgolon, instructed Regional Nutrition Evaluation Teeam (RNET) member Margarita S. Natividad to prepare the details of the Stakeholder’s Forum to be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Clark, Pampanga on July 29, 2013. This will be sponsored by DOH CHD 3 and will serve as Regional Nutrition Month Culminating Activity.
