The National Nutrition Council Central Luzon’s participation in the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Planning Workshop spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Luzon had once again demonstrated the true spirit of collaboration and harmonize efforts to address concerns of children. Held on 16-18 February 2016 at the Lohas Hotel, Clarkfield, Pampanga, the planning workshop was aimed at strengthening the government response in the delivery of appropriate and timely protection services for children.
Highlights of the activity included a presentation on the situation of children in Central Luzon, thrusts and priorities of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), Inter-Agency Committee Against Child Pornography (IACACP), Inter Agency Committee Against Trafficking (IACAT), Inter Agency Committee- Violence Against Women and Children (IAC-VAWC) and Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committee (JJWC).
DSWD-Region III Regional Director Gemma B. Gabuya graced the event and challenged representatives to harmonize efforts through commitment and clear institutional arrangements.
The two-day workshop outputted a harmonized plan for children and women which included, among others the National Nutrition Council’s commitment on the child labor-free barangay, training on the Promote Good Nutrition-Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for Barangay Implementers, two-day Refresher Course on Nutrition Counseling and use of IYCF Counselling Cards and Tools and Launching of 2016 Nutrition Month celebration focused on the first 1,000 days .
The activity was participated by national government agencies composed of Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Commission on Human Rights, Commission on Higher Education, Civil Service Commission, Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Justice, Department of Labor and Employment-Bataan, Department of Social Welfare and Development, National Bureau of Investigation, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, National Economic and Development Authority, National Nutrition Council, Philippine Information Agency, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine National Police, Population Commission, Regional Inter Agency Committee Against Trafficking - Violence Against Women and Children - Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committee, Regional Sub-Committee on the Welfare of Children; local government units composed of City Social Welfare and Development Office of Angeles, Cabanatuan and Olongapo City and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Pampanga and Bulacan; and nongovernment organizations such as the International Justice Mission, Social Action Center of Pampanga, People’s Recovery Empowerment Development Assistance and Regional Association of DSWD Licensed and Accredited GO’s/NGO’s Institution.
