The 2018 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC) is over. . .
The awards and trophies, along with the cash incentives (for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars) were brought home. .
Guests and those who witnessed the excitement and jubilees of the champions had gone home and continued with their regular tasks. . .
But for sure, the euphoric feeling of winning an award after years of dedication, commitment and perseverance still lingers in the hearts of champions.
And so are we, the NNC-Region III Secretariat, the punong abala during the 2018 RNAC.
Allow us first to thank all the local government units and the 30-members of the Regional Nutrition Committee, specifically the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team, for the support extended to us during the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation and Search for Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar. For without your cooperation, no champions will be recognized and no RNAC will be staged.

The Secretariat will continuously perform our mandate in formulating policies and in coordinating various programs and projects in nutrition among national government agencies, local government units, NGOs and private sectors involved in food and nutrition and health promotion.
As an expression of thanks, allow us to share snippets of information about the 2018 RNAC. Just so, to revive the euphoric feeling of recognition for a job well done and to inspire others to follow the path that the champions trekked in order to make it to the top.
The Awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to members of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team, Nutrition Action Officers and District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators.
As a fitting venue for giving awards of recognition, provincial/city/municipal nutrition action officers and District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators of selected LGUs, members of the RTWG and RNET were also given certificates of recognition with special citations as Service Award, for 10 years and above and for those who retired and will retire from the service in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Responses from the Champions
2017 Outstanding Province in the Region - Bataan
Dr. Rosanna M. Buccahan, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer and Provincial Health Officer of the Bataan Province, was in high spirit when she delivered her response in behalf of Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia, the Chairperson of Bataan Nutrition Committee. Dr. Buccahan spontaneously shared the goal of the province to achieve the highest HDI or Human Development Index in the country which is linked to achieving many outcomes such as quality of health services and reduced malnutrition. She expressed her hopes that if given another year of green banner they will be able to obtain the CROWN award.
2017 Outstanding City in the Region – Mabalacat City
In the absence of City Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo, Honorable Krizzanela C. Garbo, City Councilor, delivered a response of gratitude for she considered the green banner award and the CROWN Award received by the city as a rewarding gift considering that the city is still young. She also expressed her thanks for the support extended by the City Nutrition Committee and Ms. Socorro L. Lorena, City Nutrition Action Officer.
2017 Outstanding Municipality in the Region – Talavera, Nueva Ecija
Mayor Nerivi S. Martinez, Chairperson of the Municipal Nutrition Committee, expressed her happiness receiving the award for the third time, saying “Lalo po naming pagbubutihin ang programang pangnutrisyon sa aming bayan at tinatanggap naming ang malaking hamon upang lalong magsikap na maibigay ang pinakamataas na antas ng nutrisyon ng aming kabataan”. She also shared the fulfillment in the hearts of the members of the MNC, as they all persevere for 16 years before bagging the Outstanding Municipality in the Province of Nueva Ecija.
2017 Regional Outstanding BNS – Bugtong na Buli, Talavera, Nueva Ecija
Ms. Thelma Esteban shared her unending gratitude for the blessings she received as the 3rd-time winner of the search for the Provincial Outstanding BNS and the reigning regional OBNS. Accordingly, she commits herself of continuously serving Bgy. Bugtong na Buli to maintain the the normal nutritional status of all households and improve the livelihood of the families through food production and vegetable gardening as the regular projects of the MNC of Talavera.
Awarding of Certificates of Recognition and Cash Prizes to the Barangay Nutrition Scholars
Awarding of cash prizes and certificates of recognition of the barangay frontline workers - the thirteen (13) Provincial and City Outstanding BNSs, who vied for the 2018 Search for the Outstanding BNS in the Region, namely Ms. Joegie Padilla (Dilasag, Aurora); Ms. Desiree Salmorin (Samal, Bataan); Ms. Thelma Esteban (Talavera, Nueva Ecija); Mr. Nilo Paguio (Lubao, Pampanga); Ms. Cristine Malonzo (Lapaz, Tarlac); Ms. Ma. Luisa Fraginal (Candelaria, Zambales); Ms. Myra Sese (Angeles City); Ms. Jennifer Beley (Cabanatuan City); Ms. Edralin Chica (Mabalacat City); Ms. Sonia Lim (Malolos City); Ms. Luzviminda Bandojo (San Jose City); Ms. Brenda Mendoza (City of San Fernando), and Ms. Carmelita Evangelista (Science City of Munoz). They also received cash prize of Php4,000.00 as Provincial OBNS and P3,000.00 as City OBNS.
The top two regional Outstanding BNS received cash and certificates: Ms. Jennifer Beley of Cabanatuan City (1st Runner-up) and the 2018 Regional Outstanding BNS, Ms. Thelma S. Esteban of Barangay Bugtong na Buli, Talavera, Nueva Ecija received a trophy and cash prize of Php20,000.00. Ms. Esteban was also one of the 8 finalists in the 2018 search for the National Outstanding BNS, recognized correspondingly with other national nominees on 31 July 2018 at the PICC, Manila.
The Talent Showdown of the BNS Federation of Pampanga Province
The performance of the 15-member BNS Federation of Pampanga Province, the Champions of the Talent Showdown during the 2018 Central Luzon Regional Conference of BNSs held on 8-9 November 2018. They bagged the cash prize worth P15,000.00.
