CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Nov. 21 (PIA) -- The National Nutrition Council (NNC) cited outstanding nutrition committees and workers in Central Luzon through its 2019 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held on 8 November 2019 in the The Forum 2, Orchid Gardens Resort Complex, San Juan, City of San Fernando.
In her welcome message, NNC 3 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ana Maria Rosaldo thanked the sincerity and commitment of individuals who remain NNC’s allies and partners in advocating nutrition and nutrition-related concerns in their respective localities.
“Thank you for your perseverance and inspiration in providing genuine service to the people. Thank you too, for not holding back your commitment to wage war against all forms of malnutrition- stunting, wasting, and over nutrition among preschool and school children,” Rosaldo said.
For her part, Department of Health Assistant Regional Director Juliana Reyes said the award serves as a way of advocating for the continuing support for the nutrition program.
“The award is all the more important as incentive for LGU to scale up nutrition actions so that we can have faster and wider reduction in malnutrition,” Reyes said in her keynote message.
Among the awardees include Mabalacat City in Pampanga and Talavera in Nueva Ecija which bagged the 1styear Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award.
Meanwhile, Bulacan Province was conferred with the Green Banner and Most Outstanding Province in the Region Award, with Bataan Province as the first runner-up.
In addition, Aurora Province was cited as the Most Improved Local Government Unit.
Sixteen LGUs were also conferred with the Quality Nutrition Program Award; eight LGUs with the Most Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee, and 18 out of 3,225 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) across the region were cited as Provincial/City Outstanding BNSs. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
