On 8 February 2023, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region III conducted the 2022 Gitnang Luzon Gawad Parangal sa Nutrsiyon at the Shepherd’s Hall, Ephatha Development Center, SACOP, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The 2022 Gitnang Luzon Gawad Parangal sa Nutrsiyon is the culminating event of the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) and Search for Outstanding Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFP) conducted by the Regional Nutrition Monitoring and Evaluation Team from June to October 2022.
The Gawad Parangal sa Nutrisyon is the most awaited activity of the nutrition sector wherein the NNC recognizes the local government units (LGUs) and local nutrition focal points that were able to sustain their exceptional performance in reducing the number of malnourished constituents and ensuring food security in their localities. It also showcased the efficiency and effectiveness of the nutrition programs and projects implemented by the local nutrition committees, local government units (LGUs), and Local Nutrition Focal Points (Nutrition Action Officers, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators and Barangay Nutrition Scholars) with exemplary performance in nutrition program management and delivery of nutrition services.
The following LGUs received the 2021 Green Banner Seal of Compliance; 1) City of San Fernando, Pampanga,
2) Municipality of Baliwag, Bulacan; 3) Municipality of Bulakan, Bulacan; 4) Municipality of Bustos, Bulacan;
5) Municipality of Guiguinto, Bulacan; 6) Municipality of Marilao, Bulacan; 7) Municipality of Pandi, Bulacan;
8) Municipality of Quezon, Nueva Ecija; and 9) Municipality of Castillejos, Zambales.
Most Visible LGUs in Social Media Award was given also to the LGUs that highlighted their exemplary contributions in the implementation of nutrition and nutrition related activities in their respective social media accounts. Listed in this category of awards are the following LGUs:
- Municipalities of Dinalungan and Dingalan of the Province of Aurora
- Municipality of Dinalupihan of the Province of Bataan
- Municipalities of Baliwag and Marilao of the Province of Bulacan
- Municipalities of Guimba, Talavera and Santa Rosa of the Province of Nueva Ecija
- Municipality of Santa Cruz of the Province of Zambales
- Cities of Malolos and Meycauayan of the Province of Bulacan
- Cities of Mabalacat and San Fernando of the Province of Pampanga
- Province of Bataan
- Province of Pampanga
- Province of Zambales
The Municipality of Arayat, Pampanga was recognized for the efforts of the Local Nutrition Committee in establishing its Nutrition Office while Meycauayan City, Municipalities of Bamban and La Paz, Tarlac were recognized for the passage of nutrition ordinances in 2022 relative to the strengthening of the nutrition programs in their respective LGUs.
Certificate of Appreciations were also given to members of the Regional Nutrition Committees for the active participation in the various undertakings of the NNC-Region III and their invaluable contribution in the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022 in the region.
Members of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team, selected Nutrition Action Officers, and District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators were also recognized for their invaluable and untiring support to the many undertakings of the NNC-Region III.
