San Juan City – A new batch of Nutrition Program Managers and BNS Trainers emerged, as NNC MIMAROPA successfully conducted the Training on Nutrition Program Management and Training of Trainers on the Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars which was held at the Greenhills Elan Hotel Modern last August 10 to 14 and August 24 to 28, respectively.
The Training on Nutrition Program Management aimed to capacitate nutrition managers at the provincial and municipal levels in the planning and managing of local nutrition programs while the Training of Trainers on the Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholar was aimed to enhance the capability of nutrition workers and local nutrition committee members in training and supervising Barangay Nutrition Scholars for the effective performance of their roles and functions.
The participants consisted of District/City/ Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/C/NPCs) as well as Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs), Nutritionist-Dietitians (ND), Diocese of Boac, Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG), Midwives and other designated trainers of BNS.
The participants shared their experiences on their respective field and expressed concerns on how to further furnish their capacities in planning a solid nutrition program.
“The training was tedious but uplifting” said by some of the participants near the end of the training.
The participants were given manuals and USB Flash drives containing soft-copies of documents and modules as well as tools that will aid the Nutrition Managers to implement sound nutrition programs and for BNS Trainers to effectively supervise their BNS in terms of encoding, recording, monitoring and evaluation of records.
The training proper ended in a graduation theme with closing remarks by OIC – RNPC Ms. Carina Z. Santiago with high hopes to the new breed of nutrition program managers and BNS trainers of MIMAROPA Region.
