Staff meeting Jan Quezon City – The National Nutrition Council is the highest policy-making and coordinating body in nutrition. Its mission is to address hunger and malnutrition of Filipinos through policy and program formulation and coordination, capacity development, promotion of good nutrition, nutrition surveillance, resource generation and mobilization, advocacy, and partnership and alliance building.

It has regional offices in all the 17 regions of the Philippines to carry out this mission down to the barangay level, with the help of local nutrition workers. NNC MIMAROPA is now headed by Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco, Nutrition Program Coordinator and Officer-in-Charge, and has transferred to its new office in Mapagmahal St., Brgy. Pinyahan, Quezon City. The office is now composed of five (5) nutrition officers and three (3) administrative staff to carry out all the tasks to deliver quality nutrition services to the MIMAROPAns. NNC MIMAROPA continues to embrace the challenge of fighting malnutrition in the region through effective and efficient implementation of various nutrition programs, intense advocacy on proper health and nutrition, and stronger linkages with nutrition partners and key stakeholders.

With this, the first NNC MIMAROPA staff meeting, series 2020 was held last 3 January 2020, to strategize actions and set the goals and targets of the institution for this year, the start of a new decade, through clear vision and tasks assignments among its members. The agenda discussed were 1) January 2020 Schedule of Activities; 2) 2020 Regional Work Plan; 3) Status of 2019 Funds; and 4) Tasks assignment of technical and administrative staff. With a clear direction and effective strategies in the implementation of nutrition programs, it is hoped that malnutrition will slowly but surely improve in the region. (EMArcinue/MEBBlanco)
