03 2021 04 Womens Week

The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA Region participates in the observance of 2021 Women’s Week pursuant to Proclamation No. 244, s. 1988. Annually, we commemorate the first week of March as Women’s Week declared on 1 March 1988.

Every Filipino woman has been battling for national independence, civil liberties, gender equality and human rights. When COVID-19 happened, access of most girls and women to essential sexual and reproductive health services such as maternal, newborn and child health services were very limited. Also, number of girls and women facing exploitation, child labor and gender-based violence elevated.

With this, COVID-19 pandemic should not hinder girls and women in accessing to their essential needs and rights. Outbreak of serious threat should be monitored to alleviate extreme economic shocks.

As the nation celebrates National Women’s Month and Women’s Week, NNC MIMAROPA joins in raising awareness on women’s nutrition and health through the NutriQuiz posted every Monday.

Women’s health must be prioritized, funded and well-recognized. As such, let us work together to promote maternal and child nutrition and health and advocate women empowerment and cease gender inequality!
