National Nutrition Council – MIMAROPA conducted the online monitoring to its Nutriskwela Community Radio Station in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro – DZNI FM 99.7 Radyo Kaunlaran on 11 March 2021. The monitoring team composed of Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen Blanco and Nutrition Officer II Bianca Estrella, joined by Station Manager Cresentina Salapare.

Radyo Kaunlaran is one of the four Nutriskwela Radio Station in MIMAROPA which was established in 2013 in partnership with Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Bansud and the Local Government of Bansud.

Monitoring is conducted twice a year to check its operations and provide necessary recommendation to the identified problems. Through video conferencing application, NNC RO was able to look on the materials and equipment being checked such as antenna tower, transmitter and displayed program schedule and signal map as SM Salapare walk-through around the station using her mobile phone.

For their programming, according to SM Salapare, other agencies such as TESDA, DSWD, Comelec and Philippines Army also have segments in their station. They received feedback through SMS or personal interaction expressing gratitude for the nutrition information and education it provided. “Lumalawak yung kaalaman in terms of developmental aspect,” SM Salapare added as the station also relay LGU and provincial initiatives and activities.

Overall, online monitoring was conducted fruitfully and successfully. As travel directives are eased, NNC MIMAROPA hopes to conduct on-site monitoring to personally visit and check the operation of Radyo Kaunlaran as well as the other three Nutriskwela Radio Station in the region.
