The District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines – MIMAROPA Chapter conducted their first meeting for 2021 held last 23 March via Zoom application which was facilitated by the National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA. It was attended by the officers and other members of D/CNPCs in the region.

Discussed during the meeting include the recently approved RNC Resolution No. 2 series 2021 titled “Enjoin All Local Government Units to Strengthen the Integration of Nutrition-Related Programs and Projects and Scale up Nutrition-Related Programs and Project in their 2021-2022 Annual Investment Plans to Address the Current National Problems and the Possible Effects of COVID-19 Pandemic in the Health and Nutrition Situation“ and the 2021 Nutrition Month Theme “Malnutrisyon Patuloy na Labanan, First 1000 Days Tutukan!“. A segment on the upcoming 2021 association election and the creation of association by-laws also took place. The president of DCNPCAP – MIMAROPA Chapter Ms. Ana Lualhati Hernandez gave detailed association updates.

The DNPCs inquired if there will be available conduct of trainings for newly hired D/CNPCs for them to be more equipped in implementing nutrition-related programs, projects, and activities and to supervised well their constituents that were under their guidance.

The role of D/CNPCs in the local government unit is vital for they are associates of Provincial/City Nutrition Action Officer in implementing nutrition-related programs, projects, and activities in the community. As D/CNPCs, they provide necessary assistance to MNAO in conducting nutrition-related programs and activities in municipal level and they supervise the Barangay Nutrition Scholars as well in conducting Operation Timbang Plus and other activities in barangay level. In addition to their duties as D/CNPCs, they also conducted trainings and workshop for the enhancement of the skills and knowledge of BNSs under their supervision.

NNC MIMAROPA acknowledges all local nutrition workers in their efforts, actions, and responses in implementing nutrition programs, projects, and activities and in providing nutrition services in their community in the support of advocacy of NNC even in the midst of pandemic. NNC MIMAROPA will continuously provide necessary trainings and technical assistance for the local nutrition workers to be more capable of delivering nutrition interventions in their areas.
