The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA conducted a virtual meeting with representatives from Department of Agrarian Reform MIMAROPA and Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBOs) of Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro last 8 April 2021 to forge a partnership for the implementation of Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program.

Discussed during the meeting were brief orientation of Tutok Kainan and the role of ARBOs in the implementation of the program. Preparatory arrangements such as estimate volume of raw ingredients, areas where the supplies will be delivered to and establishment of marketing and memorandum of agreement between NNC and ARBOs.

Tutok Kainan is NNC’s COVID-19 response to operationalize the needed services indicated in the RA 11148 or “Kalusugan Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act” which is feeding program for pregnant women and children under 2 years old. The target beneficiaries of Tutok Kainan for Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro will be 6-23 months old children, either afflicted with stunting or wasting.

ARBOs are group of agrarian reform beneficiaries organized by DAR to ensure the growth of agrarian industry in the country through reforms and support services. NNC chosen ARBOs as the supplier for the Tutok Kainan for ease of delivery of ingredients as several members of ARBOs were within the covered areas of Tutok Kainan and also to support the local market of the Tutok Kainan areas.

NNC MIMAROPA will continue to coordinate with the ARBOs to finalize the preparations for the conduct of Tutok Kainan. “Sa Tutok Kainan, First 1000 Days matututukan, lokal na industriya matutulungan”
