The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA conducted a virtual Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for the Philippine Multi-sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP), also known as the Kasapatan at Ugnayan ng Mamamayan sa Akmang Pagkain at Nutrisyon (KUMAIN) Project in Occidental Mindoro and Romblon. The activity held on 12 April through Zoom application in two separate sessions.
The FGD was participated by the local nutrition implementers in the identified local government units, which included the Provincial/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, District Nutrition Program Coordinators, Barangay Health Worker representatives, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Child Daycare Workers.
The activity took place as part of preparation for the Philippine Multi-sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) with World Bank. It served as a consultation session to the target beneficiaries namely the indigenous people and the community nutrition implementers to gather information and suggestions from prospective stakeholders and assess the health and nutrition situation in their community. The PMNP will be implemented in 2022-2025.
There is a lot to look forward to for the PMNP or KUMAIN Project. Its main objective is to increase the simultaneous utilization of a package of nutrition-specific and nutrition sensitive interventions and improve key behaviors and practices known to reduce stunting in targeted local government units. The KUMAIN Project will be led by DOH-NNC and DSWD with partner agencies specifically the DILG, DA, DOST-FNRI, and Office of the Cabinet Secretary.
