04 2021 17 NEDA Virtual Caravan

NNC MIMAROPA participated the virtual caravan for the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) with the theme: “Tayo na, Bumangon para sa Ambisyon!” held via Zoom Application on 23 April 2021 spearheaded by National Economic and Development Authority MIMAROPA. The virtual event was a nationwide caravan of NEDA for PDP 2017-2022 and MIMAROPA is the last region hold the event for its Luzon leg. The caravan was simultaneously aired via Facebook Live in the MIMAROPA Regional Development Council Page to reach more sector in the society. 

The virtual caravan aims to remind everyone of the Ambisyon Natin 2040 which represents the collective long-term vision and aspirations of Filipino people for themselves and for the country in the next 25 years. The Ambisyon Natin describes the kind of life that people want to live and how the country will be by 2040.

It also aims to cascade and explain to all sectors of Filipino people the PDP 2017-2022 and the RDP 2017-2022 Midterm Updates and to help them understand that government has a plan that takes account both medium-term needs and their long-term aspirations, amidst the pandemic and the challenges our country is experiencing. The updated PDP is a whole-of-society approach for economic recovery and getting the country back on track towards achieving the vision for every Filipino.

“I hope that we will be able to achieve the objective of this activity for everyone here to know that the government has a plan for the future. We are building the road toward the comfortable lives and you will help to build this road. Let us not lose hope and let us try to move forward. This pandemic has brought a lot of problems and challenges. Let us take this as an opportunity to learn, to get stronger and to be better. I know that as long as we continue to work hand in hand, together we will achieve the vision of the “matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay para sa lahat,” NEDA MIMAROPA Regional Director Susan Sumbeling stated during her opening remarks.

It was attended by MIMAROPA regional directors, development partners, local government units, private sector representatives, non-government organizations and members of academe. Several resource persons from NEDA and various national government agencies have joined the event including Director Nerissa Esguerra of NEDA Central Office, Asec. Paola Alvarez of Department of Finance, Asec. Rolando U. Toledo of Department of Budget and Management, and NEDA Assistant Secretary Carlos Abad Santos discussing the updated PDP and Ambisyon Natin 2040.

Towards the end of the virtual caravan, different sectors of the society in MIMAROPA region expressed their full support to the Ambisyon Natin 2040, PDP and RDP believing that through its programs and projects, it will bring together the government and the private sectors in achieving national and regional development.
