Following DOST-PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Bulletin #20 issued 2:00PM, 2 June 2021, announcing the movement of Tropical Storm “Dante” towards the southwestern portion of Batangas – northeastern portion of Oriental Mindoro, with center over the coastal waters of Pola, Oriental Mindoro or 45km East Southeast of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, it is expected that the tropical storm will maintain its strength until it makes landfall over mainland Luzon. Further land interaction with rugged terrain will weaken “Dante” into a tropical depression tonight or tomorrow morning.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) # 2 is in effect for the northern portion of Romblon (Corcuera, Banton, Concepcion), Marinduque, the northern and central portion of Oriental Mindoro (Roxas, Bongabong, San Teodoro, Puerto Galera, Baco, City of Calapan, Naujan, Victoria, Socorro, Pola, Pinalamayan, Gloria, Bansud), the northern and central portion of Occidental Mindoro (Sablayan, Santa Cruz, Paluan, Mamburao, Abra de Ilog, Lubang Islads). TCWS #1 is raised for the rest of Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro.
From today to tomorrow morning (2-3 June 2021), Tropical Storm Dante is forecast to bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Romblon, Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro; moderate to heavy rains over the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, and light to moderate with at times heavy rains over the rest of MIMAROPA. Under these conditions and considering antecedent rainfall, scattered to widespread flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides are expected, especially in areas with high or very high susceptibility to these hazards as identified in hazard maps. Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels. Moreover, strong winds to gale-force winds are possible over the areas where Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #2 is hoisted. Such conditions may bring generally light to moderate damage to structures and vegetation. In areas where TCWS #1 is in effect, strong winds may cause generally very light damage to structures and vegetation.
As such, the MIMAROPA Regional Nutrition Cluster is calling for the preparation of all local nutrition clusters to act upon this situation. All Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Clusters are advised to be ready for the possible effects of "Dante" which may cause possible displacement of constituents particularly those vulnerable and nutritionally at-risk including infants, young children, pregnant and lactating women, elderly, and indigenous groups. Members of the Regional Nutrition Cluster are advised to be on full alert for possible mobilization activities.
Kindly monitor response activities per compliance with your respective local nutrition cluster response plan, including the availability of nutrition commodities. Please coordinate with your Local Health Cluster and Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) for the deployment of service providers when needed.
Moreover, please provide updates with your activities through contact numbers 0917 798 6252 (Globe), 0939 934 8413 (Smart), and 0925 764 5543 (Sun), through email This email address is being protected from spambots.
