The National Nutrition Council (NNC) MIMAROPA and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) MIMAROPA has formally sealed their partnership for Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP) implementation in the provinces of Occidental Mindoro and Marinduque. The event was held on 9 June 2021 at BSA Towers, Mandaluyong City.
Several dignitaries took part in the activity, including Chair of Inter-Agency Task Force on Zero Hunger Cabinet Secretary Atty. Karlo Alexei B. Nograles; NNC Executive Director Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang, MCH, CESO III; DAR Undersecretary for Support Services Office Atty. Emily O. Padilla; DAR Undersecretary for Policy and Planning and Research Office Ms. Virginia N. Orogo; DAR Assistant Secretary for Support Services Office Atty. Milagros Isabel A. Cristobal; DAR MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Marvin V. Bernal and DAR MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director Ms. Lilibeth G. Lee, CESO IV. RD Bernal and Nutrition Program Coordinator and OIC, NNC MIMAROPA Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco gave their special messages and commitment for the success of the program.
Through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), NNC and DAR are committed to perform their obligations for the success of the program. Implementation of Tutok Kainan would not only help improve the nutritional status of young child but also promote the local farmers and fisherfolk as DAR will facilitate linkage between NNC and Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBO) of Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro.
Tutok Kainan is NNC’s COVID-19 response to operationalize the Dietary Supplementation Program for pregnant and children under 2 years old under the RA 11148 or “Kalusugan Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act”. For Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro, Tutok Kainan DSP will cater 6-23 months old children who are either afflicted with stunted or wasted form of malnutrition.
After the signing of MOU, NNC MIMAROPA and DAR MIMAROPA will conduct coordination meeting with ARBOs to establish Marketing Agreement.
