National Nutrition Council - MIMAROPA, in partnership with the Palawan, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro Nutrition Communicators (PROMO Nutri Com) conducted the 2021 Nutrition Month Regional Culminating Activity cum Orientation on the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Network on 3 August 2021 via Zoom Application and streamed live on NNC MIMAROPA Facebook page.
NO I Ms. Nichole Kate S. Loyola served as a moderator in the live activity with an estimated total of 100 participants from both platforms. NO I Ace Van Earl T. Patriarca facilitated the Nutri Shout-out to acknowledge the presence of each attendee.
To start the activity, NPC-OIC Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco delivered her welcome and opening remarks emphasizing that the 3Es of Nutrition Month Campaign have been successfully executed regionwide – Educate, Encourage, and Engage. Additionally, Introduction to the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Strategy was briefly discussed by OIC-Nutrition Officer III Ms. April Jasmine May C. Ducusin of NPPD highlighting its vision “A world free from malnutrition in all its forms by 2030”, encompassing the history and strategy, current initiatives in the Philippines and other parts of the world, and component networks of the SUN movement.
As one of the activity’s highlight, announcement of winners for the three regional nutrition month contests have been declared. Acknowledgement of judges, criteria for judging and take-home prizes was enumerated. For Idol Ko Si Tatay Poster Making, Mr. Leonard B. Ansiong from Palawan province ranked the first place, tandem of BNS Jonamelle P. Tobias and Mommy Arnoleen Lalong-isip from municipality of Baco, Oriental Mindoro ranked the first place for Laking 1000 Best Complementary Food Recipe Contest: Mother-BNS Tandem, and lastly, dancing duo Ms. Rita Santa L. Turla and Ms. Crizalyn Cauilan from municipality of Gloria, Oriental Mindoro won the first place for First 1000 Days Tiktok Challenge. NNC MIMAROPA shall coordinate with the participants for claiming of cash prizes, certificates and nutrition month tumbler.
Two sessions of NutriGame: Find the Word and an electronic raffle draw to all public sharers of livestream have been administered with P100 load prize for each winner. Finally, a call to action for nutrition was stated by NPC-OIC Blanco reminding all stakeholders and partners that collective effort is a must to raise a #Laking1000 generation.
NNC MIMAROPA extends it gratitude for the overwhelming support and participation of all regional line agencies and local government units of MIMAROPA Region. Indeed, as we conclude the 2021 Nutrition Month Celebration, we hope for a continuous advocacy and strong implementation of nutrition interventions among Filipinos beginning in the first 1000 days of life.
