NNC MIMAROPA headed by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen B. Blanco met with Radyo Kasimanwa for a coordination meeting on 16 August 2021 via Zoom Application. The station was represented by Station Manager (SM) Alfredo Araneta, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Elizabeth Balbutan and CRC Member Heidi Garcellano and joined by Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) Rachel Paladan.
The meeting aimed to know the updates on the station and identify specific actions for its operationalization. SM Araneta reported that the rehabilitation and upgrading of facilities were already done, transmitter house and antenna pole in Mt. Tapyas is ready, and the power connection to the station has been installed.
PNAO Paladan extended support and assistance to the station in terms of their programming, while NNC MIMAROPA will continue its coordination and assistance to ensure continuous radio broadcast for health, nutrition, and development issues.
Radyo Kasimanwa was off-air since 2019 but currently re-restablishing resume its operation. The station was established in 2010 by the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program’s partnership with the Palawan State University (PSU), and the Bintuan Progressive Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BPMC). In 2016, a new Memorandum of Agreement was signed between NNC and the Municipal Goverment of Coron as NNC's new partner for the operation and management of Radyo Kasimanwa.
