09 2021 LCE Forum

National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA will be spearheading a Nutrition Advocacy Stakeholders’ Forum this 16 September 2021 at 1:00 PM via Zoom platform. MIMAROPA Governors, Vice Governors, Mayors, Vice Mayors, Committee on Health Chairpersons and Nutrition Action Officers are expected to join this momentous event.

Despite the strong link of nutrition and development, nutrition program is one of the devolved programs that do not get adequate funding support. With the Supreme Court Ruling on the Mandanas-Garcia Case that provides an increase in LGU national tax allotment from 2022 onwards and affirmations of the national government’s commitment to decentralization, an opportunity for nutrition comes in.

Taking this opportunity and to further extend the advocacy on investing in nutrition to MIMAROPA LCEs in preparation for the upcoming devolution, this forum was organized. It aims our local leaders to recognize that investment to nutrition is a good governance and they have pivotal role in ensuring good nutrition and health of their constituents.

This will also create understanding on the need of functional nutrition committees for a successful nutrition program implementation and learn from the good practices of LGU nutrition champions in the region.

Through the leadership of the LCEs, LGUs have an important role in the war against malnutrition and in ensuring good nutrition and health for all their citizenry -- a condition for human capital development.
