The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA convened a meeting with the Nutrition Action Officers of Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro provinces on 23 September 2021 to provide update on the upcoming implementation of Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program in the said provinces. The activity was conducted through Zoom application platform.
The meeting began with a prayer followed by the National Anthem and MIMAROPA hymn. Mr. Erik Bacena, Provincial Nutrition Focal Point of Occidental Mindoro acknowledged the participants and facilitated the activity as well. Afterwards, Ms. Eileen Blanco, the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator and OIC of NNC MIMAROPA delivered her opening message. She cited that the activity aims to give updates and preparation needed in implementing the program in their respective local government units. She closed her message expressing her gratitude to the local nutrition workers in providing time to attend the meeting.
PNFP Bacena provided the outline of discussion. He went through the overview of the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program which consists of the objectives and different commodities that the NNC will be providing and will be delivered to all the beneficiary municipalities. PNFP Bacena also discussed the roles and responsibilities of the LGUs down to the barangays for the whole implementation of the program.
Mr. Ace Patriarca, the Provincial Nutrition Focal Point for Marinduque province comprehensively talked about another program component of Tutok Kainan which is the Nutritext which will also be implemented during the entire duration of the dietary supplementation program.
Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program aims to contribute to the prevention of stunting among 6-23 months old children through improving the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes and utilization of related ECCD-F1K services. NNC MIMAROPA will always provide technical assistance to the LGUs to provide necessary updates for better implementation of nutrition-related programs.
