09 2021 AIP Workshop of OrMin and Calapan

This year 2021, NNC MIMAROPA conducted a three-day workshop on integrating nutrition in the 2022 AIP as a follow through activity to secure the gains made for nutrition across all provinces and cities of the MIMAROPA region that have undergone the local planning and budgeting workshops in 2019.

For the final batch, the Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, City/Municipal Health Officers, City/Municipal Planning and Development Officers, City/Municipal Budget Officers, and Committee on Health Chair of Oriental Mindoro Province and Calapan City were invited to participate in the three-day activity held 13-15 September 2021 via Zoom Application.

“Malaki ang maitutulong ng online workshop na ito. Alam natin na if we have a good plan, mahirap mag-implement ng mga programa and should be backed up with a funding support. Especially with the First 1000 Days Program, kung mag-iinvest tayo dito, napakalaki ng impact nito sa atin dahil dito nakasalalay ang health ng mga buntis at kabataan natin. We know for a fact na kapag napabayaan natin ang panahon na ito, hindi na natin maibabalik ang kalusugan ng bata”, Ms. Norine G. Dacula, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer of Oriental Mindoro Province stated.

The LGUs were subdivided into four groups along with their respective online facilitators. This is to ensure that assigned NNC MIMAROPA staff can provide a concentrated technical assistance to participants in accomplishing their expected outputs – costing workbook and re-entry plan.

Upon closing of the workshop, the City of Calapan represented by City Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Glenda M. Raquepo and Dr. Christopher John V. Felix Jr., the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro shared their 2022 AIP. Finally, to further improve formulation of the plan, initial findings and actions requested prior to the workshop were delivered, respectively.

Furthermore, NNC MIMAROPA hopes that through this workshop, LGU teams may have a greater appreciation of the alarming malnutrition problem in their respective localities; an adequate nutrition budgets to the four major programs, projects, and activities shall be formulated; and a well-defined re-entry plan will be developed to guarantee actions to be taken on the implementation of 2022 AIP.
