The month of March marks the celebration of Women’s Month. In the Philippines, the national Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) has served as a venue to recognize women’s role and contribution in nation-building and as agents of national development and discuss continuing and emerging women’s empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments.
From 2017-2022 the celebration uses the multi-year theme: “We Make Change Work for Women” which highlights the empowerment of women as forerunners of change that is anchored on “malasakit at pagbabago.”
In culmination of the 6-year theme, the 2022 NWMC focuses on the sub-theme: “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran” emphasizing the women’s concerns in the government agenda and enabling more women to implement and demand programs and services that can bring the country closer to narrowing the gender gaps and moving towards sustainable and equitable development. It endeavors to highlight the gains achieved for women and girls, assess actions towards gender equality and look forward to steps that must be taken to ensure progress in empowering women.
In line with the celebration, National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA strongly supports the Women’s Month. NNC MIMAROPA is one with the Philippine Commission on Women to push for gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) in leadership, governance, and public service as we all believe that #WomenMakeChange.
