Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars - MIMAROPA and select District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators in the region took a review on the use of electronic Operation Timbang (e-OPT) tools during the afternoon session of their joint meeting on 22 March 2022.

E-OPT tool is used by nutrition workers in the community to help them record, interpret, and summarize results of the OPT Plus conducted annually to measure the nutritional status of the children 0-59 months old.

Nutrition Officer II Bianca Estrella facilitated the discussion with the review of the weight, length/height and mid-upper arm circumference measurements then followed by the updates on the 2022 version of e-OPT tool

After the discussion, NO II Estrella showed how the e-OPT tool for Community Level is filled-up while the participants simultaneously followed the procedures using their OPT Plus data. She also taught how to properly export data to the consolidation tools for Large Barangay, City/Municipality and Province level tools. Provincial Nutrition Focal Point Nichole Loyola also assisted some participants in filling-out the tool while the hands-on activity was ongoing.

The activity aimed to capacitate the local nutrition workers in using the electronic Operation Timbang tools for easy consolidation of OPT report and minimize systematic and human errors.
