The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA together with all its partners including Local Government Units, Regional Line Agencies, government offices, and the general public conducted the 2022 Regional Nutrition Month Culminating Activity on 2 August 2021 via Zoom Application and streamed live on NNC MIMAROPA Facebook page hosted by PDO I Millares.
To start the activity, NPC-OIC Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco delivered her welcome and opening remarks emphasizing the key messages for the 48th Nutrition Month campaign which are 1.) Good nutrition is the key to building immunity and supporting recovery. Efforts to preserve and promote proper nutrition must be part of the pandemic resilience strategies; 2.) Promote and adopt health-enhancing nutrition behaviors, including the consumption of sustainable healthy diets; 3.) Call for continued solidarity to support food and nutrition security, especially for the most vulnerable; 4.) Expand multi-sectoral engagements to scale-up nutrition interventions; and 5.) Strengthen leadership and governance in nutrition across all levels to achieve nutritional outcomes of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition.
In the region, NNC MIMAROPA lined up various activities for the Nutrition Month and all of it was shown in a short wrap up video starting from all the nutrition month greetings, hanging of streamers, online quizzes, regional contests, information sharing sessions and the regional nutrition month ceremonial activity held in Abra de Ilog.
As one of the activity’s highlights, the announcement of winners for the three regional nutrition month contests have been declared. Acknowledgement of judges, criteria for judging and take-home prizes was enumerated. For the New Normal Nutrition Poster Making Contest, Mr. Michael P. Garcia from Calapan City won the first place followed by Ms. Josset V. De la Santa of Marinduque and Mr. Leo M. Maduro of Romblon. Calapan City won another first place with Mr. Jemuel D. Caringal’s Nutri-Jingle entry that won the heart of the judges and the public. Two barangays from Araceli, Palawan namely Tinintinan and Sto. Rosario won 2nd and 3rd place respectively. For the Day in a Life of a BNS vlog contest where the BNS’s share how they deliver different nutrition services in the new normal, BNS Ada G. Adorna from Poblacion, Narra, Palawan takes home the first place followed by BNS Gina Cruzat of Sabang, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro and BNS Grace Yrigan of Calapan City. NNC MIMAROPA shall coordinate with the participants for claiming of cash prizes, certificates, and nutrition month shirt.
Three sessions of NutriGame: Find the Word and an electronic raffle draw to all public sharers of livestream have been administered with P100 load prize for each winner. Finally, NPC-OIC Blanco thanked all stakeholders, partners and the general public for their invaluable support and active participation in various nutrition month activities of the region.
