The Local Nutrition Early Warning System – Food and Nutrition Security (LNEWS-FNS) is a form of monitoring and analysis of collected data, such as food production, food prices, climate, and other factors, that determines the food and nutrition security in the community.

Through the reports submitted, the following have been observed: 1) Prices of bangus, pork, chicken, and cooking oil were all at price alert, 2) There is a significant increase in the malnutrition prevalence rates from 1st quarter vs the 2nd quarter data, 3) Municipal core group convened quarterly to discuss and analyze results and formulate recommendations to improve the nutrition situation, and 4) Few of the projects and activities initiated by the LGU and its partners were cash and rice assistance to small farmers affected by the typhoon, swine and carabao dispersal, and distribution of Palay and corn seeds.

Further, NNC MIMAROPA recommends strengthening the conduct of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF)-related activities such as promotion of breastfeeding and age-appropriate complementary feeding, nutrition education, counseling, and distribution of IEC materials to increase the percentage of exclusively breastfeed 0 to 6 months old infants within the municipality of Narra, Palawan.
