NNC participated as a partner exhibitor in the Newly Elected Officials Orientation Course: Prime Leaders for Renewed Local Governance attended by the elected Vice-Governors on August 17 and 18, 2022 at The Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila. The orientation course organized by the Department of Interior and Local Government thru the Local Government Academy offers invaluable sessions and discussions that will help newly elected officials to navigate well their first 100 days in office and improve their leadership and management capacity.
Vice Governors across the country visited the NEOtrition Booth where they were given IEC materials, their stunting prevalence, and a quick overview on how they can jumpstart their nutrition governance journey. These leaders are encouraged to follow the 3N guide on NEOtrition which are: 1) Nutrition committee that is functional, 2) Nutrition action plan that is budgeted and aligned with the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition, and 3) Nutrition office with staff complement to fully implement nutrition programs.
As the program aimed to help newly elected officials to explore strategic and transformational actions to improve the leadership and management capabilities of their local government towards better services and performance, Assistant Secretary and Executive Director IV Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang discussed Localizing National Framework towards boosting Food Security and Achieving Zero-Hunger Communities from which she tackled everything about the PPAN framework and its replication at the local levels through the LNAPs as well as the role of LNCs and LCEs as nutrition champions.
NNC enjoins local government across the country to navigate their nutrition programs and to work with collaborative efforts and commitment in ending all forms of malnutrition.
