MIMAROPA Holds Orientation on Mobilizing Community Support for Infant and Young Child (IYCF) ProgramIn order to guide communities in strengthening the Infant and Young Child Feeding Program, NNC Region IV-B conducted the Orientation on Mobilizing Community Support for Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Program last 1 – 4 October 2013 at Eurotel – Pedro Gil, Manila with a total of 26 participants which include key people at the provincial, city and municipal levels on the mobilization of community support for IYCF.

Ms. Vicente E. Borja, Supervising Health Program Officer and National IYCF Coordinator, Ms. Cynthia del Rio, Regional IYCF Coordinator for MIMAROPA, and Ms. Leeza Rosaldo and Ms. Ma. Katrina A. Demetrio, Nutrition Officer III and II, respectively, of the National Nutrition Council, served as facilitators and discussed the steps in mobilizing community support for IYCF program. During the training, interactive exercises were also implemented like role playing sessions, return demonstration on counselling and actual consultation to parents with infants and young children in San Andres, Manila. These procedures facilitated clear understanding and better learning for the participants.

Said orientation is set to be rolled-out in all of the provinces of MIMAROPA this month of October, 2013.
