The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA convened its Regional Associations — Nutrition Action Officer Association of the Philippines Inc. (NAOPA) MIMAROPA, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines Inc. (D/CNPCAP) MIMAROPA, and Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (FBNS) MIMAROPA for the first joint meeting of the year on 13 February 2023 via Zoom Application.
The online activity was presided by NPC Ma. Eileen Blanco, attended by 23 officers from all MIMAROPA LGUs. The following agenda points were discussed during the meeting which was approved by PNAO of Marinduque and NAOPA Vice President Ms. Rubi C. Apiag and seconded by MNAO of San Fernando, Romblon and NAOPA Secretary Ms. Marites Mortel: 2022 NNC MIMAROPA Accomplishments, 2023 NNC MIMAROPA Plans and Activities, Submission of Nutrition Reports, Status of Local Nutrition Action Plan (LNAP) and Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus, Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro Implementing Guidelines and Schedule, and Reminders for the Face-to-face Regional Associations Meeting.
Before discussing the Accomplishments of NNC MIMAROPA for the year 2022, DMO II Estrella thanked all the officers of MIMAROPA Associations for their contributions to NNC MIMAROPA’s annual accomplishment since without the LGUs’ full commitment and support in the delivery of health and nutrition services to the community, those accomplishments will not be realized. Additionally, the regional associations were informed on the target plans and activities of NNC MIMAROPA for the current year 2023 as well as the deadlines of submission and reminders for each nutrition report.
Additionally, participants were reminded to ensure the accuracy of OPT Plus Results and that it must be validated by the assigned staff for validation from the municipality or province. Validation of OPT results means random remeasuring of weight, length/height, or MUAC to guarantee the accuracy of the anthropometric measurements.
MELLPI Pro Implementing Guidelines were also presented specifically, evaluation team composition, process, scoring, and MELLPI Pro awards per LGU and LNFP category. The schedule of the regional evaluation for year 2022 was also announced.
Lastly, NNC MIMAROPA hopes that all officers of the regional associations will be joining the 2nd Joint Regional Associations Meeting in Marinduque to strengthen camaraderie and create a high level of commitment among members of the regional associations, discuss updates, and other various concerns and plans of the associations, and to share good practices among MIMAROPA provinces and cities for better delivery of nutrition and related services.
