RO 5 2016 Prov IYCF WHOCGS Trainers MeetingLegazpi City. A series of trainings will be conducted by the National Nutrition Council Bicol on WHO-Child Growth Standards (WHO-CGS) for health workers and Peer Counsellors training on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF). With funding support from the Department of Health RO V, these trainings will cover the six provinces of Bicol Region namely Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon. Last 14-15 January 2016, a 2-day live-in meeting was conducted at Hotel Villa Angelina in Legazpi City to review the modules of the 2 trainings and strategize on how best to conduct these.

Twelve selected trainers who attended the meeting consisted of District Nutrition Program Coordinators, Provincial Population Officer, Nutrition Officers, and Nutrition Action Officers from the mentioned provinces. These trainers will later lead in facilitating the 2 trainings in their respective provinces following the schedule agreed with NNC.

NPC Arlene Reario reminded the provincial trainers that to ensure the success of the trainings to be conducted, they should be familiar with the modules, references, including presentations to be used. She also emphasized to the trainers that being equipped with the proper skills and information prior to conduct of trainings results to a more effective and efficient training, including well-trained and happy participants.
