Finally, ECCD F1K has begun in the City. The Joint Training for Home Food Production, Food Demonstration on Complementary Feeding, and Distribution of Planting Source and Height Board was held on from 27 September up to 9 October in 4 batches. Led by CNAO Rosa Jeannie P. Bolivar and City Administrator and Agriculturist, Mr. Ruben De los Santos, first batch was held in the morning of 27 September, with 60 beneficiaries composed of pregnant and lactating mothers, and mothers with 0-23 months old children. The same number of beneficiaries attended the second batch on the same day. This was supported by their respective Barangay Captains and Chairs of the Committee on Health with the very hardworking BNSs and BHWs. At present, barangay communal gardens are now in place in most barangays. Soon, these vegetables will be harvested not only in the communal gardens but in their own homes too. Meantime, the ECCD Team has started to monitor the various barangays in their food production activities. In fact, pechay has started to grow already. Soon, many children and mothers would enjoy eating these vegetables. Fresh, organic vegetables, anyone?
Demonstration of Complementary Food for children 6 months old onwards. One of the key components of the ECCD F1K is the conduct of nutrition education to target pregnant women and mothers of children 0-23 months old to promote breastfeeding and complementary feeding. It aims to reduce the prevalence of nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women and stunting among children 0-23 months old. Former Outstanding BNS Jimnah Llagas of Brgy.
