The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Bicol in coordination with the MQ Mediazone Production conducted the Hands-On Training (HOT) on Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program in Cawayan, Masbate last August 6-8, 2019 at Cawayan SB Hall, Masbate. The 3-day HOT with NPC Reario from NNC Bicol and MQ Mediazone partners trained the members of the Community Radio Council of Cawayan who are expected to manage RADYO KAHAMUGAWAY, the 50th Nutriskwela Community radio established by NNC in various parts of the country. This community radio will bridge the different sectors through information dissemination and advocacy to increase knowledge and awareness on community development, proper nutrition and good health practices.
NPC Reario discussed the importance of promoting nutrition through the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network while the MQ technical staff shared their expertise in managing this platform as well as the ways in writing effectively for radio and field reporting. The participants of the said training showed their interest during the workshop on Radio Program Broadcasting, Interview and Anchoring. Nutrition Officer I Ma. Socorro Ibarbia of NNC Bicol participated in the hands-on training along with 24 participants of the community of Cawayan, Masbate including representatives from the local legislature. Furthermore, the Rules and Regulations on Radio Broadcasting was discussed by a representative from the National Telecommunication Commission from NTC Region 5.
At the end of the training, an organized Community Radio Council for RADYO KAHAMUGAWAY was established with Dr. Virgenia T. Nuynay, MHO and current MNAO of Cawayan, as the elected Chairperson. With Station Manager Fel C. Monares to lead the station, strong support from Mayor Edgar S. Condor and Vice Mayor Ester C. Binsol, the people of Cawayan are assured of development news and updated information to be heard everyday over 106.5 FM. (NO I Ibarbia, NO II Perez, NO III Valeza)
