RO5 2012 Bicol go greenLidong, Sto. Domingo, Albay – The National Nutrition Council led by Nutrition Program Coordinator, Arlene R. Reario and Department of Health personnel, joined the tree planting activity on 12 October at Mayon Volcano Natural Park. The activity was spearheaded by the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) V, as one of the activities during the National Statistics Month (NSM) in October.

The activity was in support with the government’s National Greening Program, an advocacy campaign to promote social relevance and environmental awareness among agencies. The assembly was at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), 6:00AM and the planting materials were provided by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Other agencies which joined the activity were the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Philippine National Police (PNP), Naval Forces Southern Luzon, NEDA, NSO and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Few hours after the activity, rain fell, as nature’s way of saying thank you and welcoming the newly planted trees.
