TOT_NPMLEGAZPI CITY – National Nutrition Council teamed up with the Intervida Philippines, Inc. to conduct a 3-day Training of Trainers on Nutrition Program Management (NPM) in all covered areas of Intervida in the Bicol Region. Both batches were held at Jennifer’s Kababayan Hotel, Inc. on 7-9 and 19-21 March 2012.

Participants were composed of Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, Municipal Planning Department Officers, Rural Health Nurses, Municipal Health Officers, and Municipal Agriculture Officers of Sto. Domingo, Daraga, Camalig, Malinao, Malilipot, Guinobatan, Oas, Tiwi and Ligao City, Albay; Pilar, Sorsogon; Nabua, Camarines Sur. Other participants were from the provinces of CamSur, Sorsogon and Albay, NO II Gileen Mae Narvaez of National Nutrition Council V and staff from Intervida Philippines Foundation. NPC Arlene R. Reario, NO III Marilyn C. Valeza and the following DNPCs, Catalina M. Austria of CamSur, Grace C. Jardin of Sorsogon and Sheree G. Longaza and Ryan S. Altavano of Albay were the trainers and facilitators of the training.

During the training, workshops and exercises were done to enhance the knowledge, skills and values of participants along NPM. Output after the training was a 2-year Local Nutrition Action Plan of every participating municipality and province.

Roll out training to 131 barangays from the 11 participating municipalities are expected to be done in March and April with the municipal-level participants as the trainers. Members of the PNC, NNC and Intervida will provide technical support to the municipalities.
