Wao, Lanao del Sur–As essential as good nutrition is to human health and development, malnutrition is still a problem of varying magnitude especially in ARMM.
“Bantay Nutrisyon is our mission” and what better way to achieve this for ARMM is to equip the local leaders to guard the community’s nutrition with proper information by conducting the Training on Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars at Payag ni Dowa, Wao, Lanao del Sur.
27 Barangay Nutrition Schollars from 26 different barangays of Wao, Lanao del Sur participated during the said activity.
The training was facilitated by NNC ARMM’s, Chrisley A. Gonzales and Chrity Joy E. Danao, IPHO-Lanao del Sur’s, Dr. Emelyn Alvarez, Nelia R. Sarap and Virgilita B. Pagdato.
This training capacitated newly recruited Barangay Nutrition Scholars with the expertise to provide the basic health and nutrition services to their communities. This training engaged an array of methods which steered the participants to understand their roles and responsibilities as frontline Nutrition Workers as they identify malnourished children through visitation and all identified children with nutrition problems are then referred to Municipal Health Offices or Hospitals in the area.
