June 2016 --- 'O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous” [2:183]
What health benefits can we get from Fasting?
1. Fasting allows us to naturally detoxify our body. We are what we eat. Avoiding all forms of unneeded and excess foods allow our body to rid itself of unnecessary substances and its metabolic by-products that eventually restores the balance of nutrients.
2. Fasting help overcome addictions. Sugar addiction is the most common form, followed by smoking, then the rest that includes drugs, and many other vices. Discipline that we achieved is the key to success in beating all these.
3. Helps maintain ideal body weight, normalizes blood sugar, reduces blood pressure, and improves immunity. Self-imposed dietary control saves you from buying expensive diet programs to stay fit. Fasting improves sugar metabolism, while it promotes relaxation that assures reduced blood pressure.
4. Fasting promotes healing. Gastritis, hyperacidity, hypertension and diabetes are commonly aggravated by foods that we take. Avoiding such promotes normalization of physiologic state of our gastro-intestinal tract and cardio vascular system.
5. Fasting relieves mental stress. Putting yourself into a state of “forced relaxation” answers our commonly neglected solution to all stressors of life.
Recommended during SAHUR (meal before the start of fasting)
DAPAT GAWIN:
· Kumain ng matatamis na prutas, green leafy vegetables, karne, isda, itlog, kanin, o ibat ibang uri ng complex carbohydrates tulad ng kamote at saging
· Uminom ng sapat (hindi sobra) na malinis na tubig
· Mag ehersisyo ng banayad.
· Ihanda ang mga pagkain na mababa sa asin ,asukal, at mantika
DAPAT IWASAN:
· Iwasan ang maaasim na prutas o maaanghang na pagkain
· Kung walang pahintulot ang doctor, iwasan ang mga gamot lalo na antibiotics and steroids
· Iwasang uminom ng carbonated drinks (Cola), kape, o tsaa kung kayo ay may hyperacidity or gastritis. Tsokalate o gatas ay mainam na alternatibo.
· Dulot ng sigarilyo at alak ay sakit. Wala tayong benepisyo na makukuha sa kalaunan.
During IFTAR.
· Uminom ng konting tubig bago kumain.
· Matatamis na prutas tulad ng Dates at iba pa ay rekomendado.
· Kumain ng dahan dahan at sapat. Anything in excess may harm our body.
· Maari ng uminom ng kape at tsaa ayon sa ating kagustuhan.
· Kung kayo ay nakakaranas ng pangangasim ng sikmura, take antacids or Ranitidine 150 mg tablet at night and during sahur. If symptoms persist, sumangguni sa ating mga doctor sa DOH-ARMM.
· Tandaan, ang pagdarasal ang pinakamabuting paraan ng ehersisyo sa Ramadhan.
