Cotabato City. The Bangsamoro Regional Nutrition Committee concluded this year’s Nutrition Month on August 03, 2021 at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex ,Bangsamoro Goverment Center, Cotabato City via blended platform. 

The event was attended  by the RNC member agencies, Provincial Health and  Nutrition Offices,  School Health and Nutrition Division of the Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education and development partners.

National Nutrition Council Assistant Secretary and Executive Director Dr. Azucena M.  Dayanghirang, emphasized the region needs to scale up its nutrition intervention through engagement with Local Government Units and other stake holders to combat malnutrition.

The highlights of this year's culmination program includes the messages from the RNC Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons expressing their full support and commitment in integrating nutrition programs and activities  in the ministries respective mandates and goals.

NPC Sinolinding., elaborated the alarming  2015 prevalence of malnutrition among under five children in BARMM that improved significantly in 2019 after 5 years of relentless intervention combating nutrition related problems.  Part of the solution cited were the three E’s: Educate, Encourage and Engage with partners and stakeholders. He quoted, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim who emphasized that problems of nutrition can be resolved by “Kayang-kaya kapag Sama-sama!”.

Part of the Nutrition Month celebration were Poster Making, Cooking and Nutri -Quiz -bee participated by different campuses and Levels, organized by the Health and Nutrition Unit of Ministry of Basic, Health and Technical Education. The winners were recognized with certificates and cash gifts individually on stage. 

Emphasized further, "health and nutrition will remain a great challenge with our apathy and unconcern" Sinolinding lamented.
