LGU Piagapo, a 4th Class Municipality in Lanao Del Sur took the initiative to act and formulate initiatives addressing malnutrition as they envision a healthier constituent. Following the P.D 1569 in strengthening the Barangay Nutrition Program, and in response to the emerging problems of malnutrition in the municipality. 

Amidst with the Covid-19 Pandemic, the LGU and NNC reminds the observance of minimum health standard among the 34 participants. The 5-days Basic Training Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars was successfully organized by the working powerhouse team of Local Government of Piagapo in partnership with the National Nutrition Council –BARMM. The training took place in the said municipality as the first in the entire province on September 13-17, 2021 at Renjeed Function Hall, Saguiaran Municipality, Lanao Del Sur.

Facilitated by NO III Lidasan, she emphasized the need for "a passionate and capacitated Barangay Nutrition Scholars to serve the community and apply with their enhanced skills and knowledge". The Piagapo BNS's enthusiasm is manifested by their participation in the individual or group activities during practicum in the 5 day training.

On September 17 2021,  Asnia Manalocon, Noralyn Mamad,  Abdulqahar Barambangan, all of Piagapo representing the Mayor, together with  Hannah Farinah M. Lidasan of NNC witnessed the graduation and confirmation of 34 nutrition Scholars, followed by LGU contract signing.

Kudos to the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, the Rural Health Unit and the Municipal Local Government of Piagapo Lanao Del Sur.
