“Failure is not an option in fighting the double burden malnutrition in the BARMM region.” That was the emotional statement made by Local Chief Executive Mamanto Mamantal as he rallies behind his team against malnutrition in Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao. Together with the National Nutrition Council – BARMM an orientation on the Creation of Local Nutrition Committee in the municipality was conducted as the initial step in addressing the issues with concrete and systematic intervention on Oct 24, 2021.

Resource person NO III Lidasan explained the importance of Nutrition among our growing children and the need to invest seriously. Explained further are the importance of Local Nutrition Committee (LNC) creation and the importance of beefing nutrition personnel with Registered Nutritionist Dietitians in every LGU, a Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) in every barangay, and a permanent Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO). These she mentioned shall make a formidable local nutrition team to support the decisions and policies made by the Mayor and the sanggunian members.

Attended by all Barangay Chairpersons as well as the municipal heads representing different sections, Mayor Mamantal, and his team vowed their full support in the implementation of effective nutrition programs in the municipality as "our legacy to our children and our town." he said.
