Butuan City- In a virtual dialogue conducted on 7 December 2021, workshop output shared by two selected barangays in the region captured the audience and inspired many Barangay Nutrition Committee’s to formulate a comprehensive Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP).

Anchored on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN), Barangay Nutrition Scholar’s in Maticdum, Tandag City and BNS in Maygatasan, Bayugan City presented their workshop outputs during the Caraga Virtual Dialogue with Punong Barangays: Enabling Nutrition Devolution.

BNS Robelyn C. Galela of Barangay Maticdum, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur shared the BNAP 2022 integrating the Devolution Transition Plan. In her presentation, the BNC identified eight (8) nutrition specific programs, nine (9) nutrition sensitive programs; and six (6) items under the Enabling mechanisms. On the other hand, BNS Levemae Tanjay of Barangay Maygatasan, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur shared nine (9) major nutrition related programs with specific activities lined up for 2022.

Virtual audience posted comments lauded the Barangay Nutrition Committee’s for the support provided for the BNSs and the comprehensive BNAPs with budget allocation.

One of the objectives of the virtual dialogue is to identify and present best practices including the formulation and presentation of the BNAPs coming from the high performing barangays when it comes to nutrition program implementation.# NASLabordo
