Butuan City- In the light of the Mandanas Ruling, two of the top local chief executives in the region provided support to strengthen nutrition programs and updating of the local nutrition action plans shared during the two-day Regional Virtual Dialogue with Punong Barangays: Enabling Nutrition Devolution on 6-7 December 2021 via Zoom Conferencing.

Agusan del Norte Governor Dale B. Corvera and the Chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-Caraga encourages the local government units to implement nutrition initiatives more effectively as the fusion of resources in the Mandanas- Garcia ruling allows efficient management of resources and a more focus implementation of the programs.

Meanwhile, Mayor Kirk A. Asis of Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, the Chairperson of the RDC-Social Development Committee encourages the barangays to give more importance on the nutrition needs of children and families. The good Mayor added that as elected by the people, it is part of the officials’ responsibilities to secure the nutrition of the people from being infants to becoming children, adolescents and later as adults in life.

The messages provided by the two top officials motivated the Barangay Nutrition Committees, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Sangguniang Kabataan who are present during the dialogue.

In his statement, Governor Corvera added that “A healthy community is a happy community and a happy community is an indispensable resource in the attainment of our shared goals of progress and development”. #NASLabordo
