BNS Program with the barangay nutrition scholars is one of the strategies stated in the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition that monitors the nutritional status of children and other nutritionally at-risk groups in their locality and deliver nutrition interventions, programs and projects to alleviate the burden of these nutritionally at-risk groups.

In the words of Mayor Kirk Asis, “BNS should not be changed or replaced without a valid reason as they are already trained and have already formulated and instigated plans and programs for their respective barangay... Being a BNS is not easy and should be given enough appreciation. Because of their job, they can explain the needs, desired plans and programs, and can show you the real situation of the barangay assigned to them.”#MPRayco
