Project ANAK LoretoButuan City- Nutrition Workers in Loreto trained on DOST-FNRI Project ANAK or the “Accelerated Nutrient Advocacy for Kids”, in two batches on January 19-20 and January 21-22, 2022 for batch 1 and batch 2 respectively conducted at Morente’s Eatery Function Hall, Purok 6 Poblacion Loreto, Agusan del Sur.

In a message shared by National Nutrition Council Caraga-OIC, Dr. Nino Archie Labordo, Project ANAK is a strategy focused on feeding interventions necessary to combat malnutrition problem among six years old and above. The strategy is one of the many interventions under the first 1,000 days package of a child’s life. It is providing of additional calories, energy and nutrients through the complementary foods that DOST will be imparting, Dr. Labordo added.

The DOST-FNRI opted to use the blended approach on which participants are gathered in one area while some of its resource persons and topics being shared virtually. Videos containing exercises such as guidelines on how to prepare complementary food were shared for the participants guidance.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Jacqueline Frances Momville expressed that “ang solusyon ng malnutrisyon ay nasa kamay ng iyong barangay”. She then encouraged everyone to share the learnings to the community. Proper nutrition or the correct infant and young child feeding practices will give important solution to end malnutrition, the PHO added.

The ANAK Project implementation in Agusan del Sur is being coordinated with the Provincial Local Government Unit, the Provincial Nutrition Office and the Municipality of Loreto in Agusan del Sur. #NASLabordo
