Butuan City- Municipality of Sibagat in Agusan del Sur received various awards during the 2021 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony and plagues finally handed over on 31 January 2021 by the NNC Caraga in said town.
The Municipality who had high prevalence rate of malnutrition in the previous years made their efforts in responding the problem of malnutrition. The Municipal Nutrition Committee headed by Mayor Maria Liza L. Evanglista together with the MNC members restructured their strategy to fight the increased rate of malnutrition in the town.
Nutrition and nutrition-related programs became their priority. Some of their strategies in fighting malnutrition is the effective dissemination of nutrition information through the Radyo Kaagapay DXCN 107.3, capacity building, household and community information advocacy and active participation in the different nutrition related programs, projects and activities.
The hard work they provided paid off as they were recognized during the 2021 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony and the plaques were delivered during 42nd Araw ng Sibagat.
The following are the awards of the Municipality of Sibagat:
- Plaque of Recognition for Above 80% coverage of the 2021 Operation Timbang Plus (OPT+)
- Plaque of Recognition for Low Level of Stunting Prevalence Rate with <10% WHO cut off from 2021
- Untiring commitment, dedication, and support to the Nutriskwela Radio Station of the National Nutrition Council
- Sustainability of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Program of the National Nutrition Council through Radyo Kaagapay DXCN 107.3
The said town will continuously implement the nutrition programs, projects and activities to sustain the low prevalence of malnutrition. #MPRayco
