Butuan City--The Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) and Nutrition Program Coordinators (NPCs) of the local government units (LGUs) convened for a blended meeting on February 24, 2022, at Almont City Hotel, Butuan City and via Zoom meeting. One of the most significant agendas presented is the status of reports, which includes the assessment of the Functionality of the Local Nutrition Committees, Capacity Mapping of Nutrition Workers and Inventory and Status of Measurement Tools. Most of the LGUs are able to submit their reports completely.
The analyzed information from the reports provides a general picture of the status of the nutrition program in the local areas. It helps the National Nutrition Council Caraga, Regional Shepherding Team and provincial nutrition action officers identify which LGUs need assistance to improve their functionality and make them fully functional. The Capacity map determines the necessary knowledge and skills development needed by the nutrition workers to enable them implement and assist their local nutrition committees in managing their nutrition programs, projects, and related activities.
Well processed, analyzed, and timely submission of collected information are essentials in the decision making for local nutrition program implementers. The proper management of information will facilitate effective and efficient nutrition program management. It will enable regular monitoring of the different nutrition projects and activities.
The NAOs and Coordinators determine the next schedule and timelines of data collection and submission. The reports submitted will be consolidated and shared with the different nutrition networks. A good information management system also helps determine the impact of the implemented programs and the gaps that need to be addressed. Furthermore, it allows prompt and appropriate response by the nutrition cluster during disasters and emergencies.#LVPVargas
