BUTUAN CITY - In celebration of the Women's Month this year, the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) of the Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC) hold today a Women's Summit at the Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center with the theme, “We Make Change, Work for Women” and with the tag line “Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”. Various agencies including the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga join the said summit in celebration of the National Womens Month.
The RGADC, the region’s mechanism in advancing gender mainstreaming, in support to the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), shall be spearheading various regional activities to highlight the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC).
The celebration is in recognition of women’s role and contribution in nation-building and as agents of national development. This celebration also coincides with the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day (IWD) and is based on three issuances, namely: Proclamation No. 224, s. of 1988, declaring the first week of March each year as Women’s Week and March 8 as Women’s Rights and International Peace Day; Proclamation No. 227, s. of 1988, providing for the observance of the Month of March as Women’s Role in History Month; and Republic Act No. 6949 (1990), declaring March 8 of every year as National Women’s Day
Capping the six-year recurring theme, “WE Make CHANGE Work for Women”, will focus on the sub-theme: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran. This year’s celebration will highlight the Filipino women’s power to take the narrative, raise priority issues that matter to them, and call for concrete actions. The Women's Summit is one of the series of events organized by the RGADC for this year.
The NNC Caraga continues to commit to empower and support all the women across all ages through information dissemination on proper and good nutrition, coordination on the provision of nutrition-specific and -sensitive programs and policy issuance to ensure that no woman will be left behind in the implementation of nutrition programs at the national, regional and local levels. #MJBanton/RPOchavo
