Butuan City –The Caraga Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars convened its Assembly and agreed for membership due increase on 14 July 2022 at Watergate Hotel, Butuan City.
The hot issue came after the financial status was revealed and the activities of the Federation cannot be sustained, said Federation President Mary B. Lomoljo.
At the moment, the Federation treasurer reported less than sixty thousand money on hand and a minimal contribution is being received.
From current five pesos per month, the BNS will remit ten pesos a month or 120 pesos a year.
The amount collected will be used for the operationalization of the Federation, including the proposed welfare benefits which will be put into resolution later.
Meanwhile, during the discussion, a new memorandum released by the NNC Central Office that appraisal of the BNS medical and survivorship allowance is hereby stopped as per Commission on Audit recommendation.
NNC Caraga, Officer-in-Charge, Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo encouraged the Federation to look into income-generating activities.
He challenged the officers to fast track the SEC renewal. Implementation of the membership increase will not be pursued until after SEC renewal is complete, Dr. Labordo advised.
The Officers from the 5 provinces and 6 cities of Caraga region proposed activities that will help co-BNSs upgrade knowledge, skills and attitude that will help them function well in their respective area of assignment.
Federation President Lomoljo announced that a meeting with officers will be scheduled sometime in the Fourth Quarter of the year. # NASLabordo
